MAPK9, also known as JNK2, is a stress-activated serine/threonine kinase that integrates signals from inflammatory cytokines and cellular stress. Once activated within the JNK pathway, it phosphorylates transcription factors including JUN and ATF2 and contributes to regulation of proliferation, differentiation and programmed cell death.
