Use the listed assay range, sample guidance and protocol documents to assess suitability for the intended study.

Human B2M / beta 2 Microglobulin ELISA Kit PicoKine® (96 Tests). Quantitate Human B2M in cell culture supernatants, serum, plasma (heparin, EDTA) , saliva, urine and human milk. Sensitivity: 10pg/ml . The brand Picokine indicates this is a premium quality ELISA kit. Each Picokine kit delivers precise quantification, high sensitivity, and excellent reproducibility. Only our most reliable and effective kits qualify as Picokine, guaranteeing top-tier results for your assays.

Beta-2 microglobulin also known as B2M is a component of MHC class I molecules, which are present on all nucleated cells (excludes red blood cells). In humans, the beta-2-microglobulin protein is encoded by the B2M gene. The protein has a predominantly beta-pleated sheet structure that can form amyloid fibrils in some pathological conditions. The encoded antimicrobial protein displays antibacterial activity in amniotic fluid. A mutation in this gene has been shown to result in hypercatabolic hypoproteinemia.

Research target context

B2Mbeta-2-microglobulin

View target guide

Beta-2-microglobulin (B2M, beta2-m) is the non-polymorphic light-chain component of major histocompatibility complex class I molecules. ABMIUM catalogue products linked below support research on B2M biology.

Biological function: Beta-2-microglobulin (B2M/beta2-m) associates non-covalently with major histocompatibility complex class I heavy chains and is required for stable MHC class I assembly and cell-surface expression. Through this role, B2M is integral to MHC-I antigen presentation and immune recognition by CD8-positive T cells.
