ATF2 is a leucine-zipper transcription factor that binds cAMP-responsive DNA elements and can form homodimers or heterodimers with partners such as JUN. It participates in transcriptional responses to cellular stress and signalling inputs and is predominantly associated with the nucleus, where it regulates gene expression and chromatin-dependent processes.
