Platelet factor 4 (PF4/CXCL4) is a CXC chemokine stored in platelet alpha granules and released following platelet activation. It binds heparin and other glycosaminoglycans and contributes to platelet-associated inflammatory and immune signalling. As a secreted platelet-derived protein, its biologically relevant localisation is extracellular after release.
