APH1A is a multi-pass membrane protein and non-catalytic component of the gamma-secretase complex. It contributes to assembly and stability of the complex, which carries out intramembrane proteolysis of substrates including Notch receptors and amyloid precursor protein. As part of gamma-secretase, APH1A is associated with cellular membranes within the secretory and endosomal system.
