APOA5 (apolipoprotein A5) encodes apolipoprotein A-V (ApoA-V), a liver-enriched minor apolipoprotein associated mainly with HDL and also with triglyceride-rich lipoproteins. APOA5 is an important regulator of plasma triglyceride metabolism and is studied in lipoprotein lipase activity, VLDL handling and systemic lipid homeostasis.
Biological function: Apolipoprotein A-V is a minor plasma apolipoprotein that modulates triglyceride-rich lipoprotein metabolism.
