CD86 (B7-2) is a type I cell-surface glycoprotein expressed by antigen-presenting cells and is an important regulator of T-cell activation. By binding the co-stimulatory receptor CD28 and the inhibitory receptor CTLA-4, CD86 helps shape the strength and duration of adaptive immune responses.
