Neuropeptide Y (NPY) is a secreted neuropeptide that is widely expressed in the central nervous system and contributes to the regulation of neuronal excitability, stress responses, appetite, circadian rhythms and cardiovascular function. It is produced as a precursor protein and signals through G protein-coupled NPY receptors to modulate intracellular signalling pathways.
