Interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1RA), encoded by IL1RN, is a member of the interleukin-1 cytokine family that limits IL-1 signalling by inhibiting the activity of IL-1α and IL-1β at the interleukin-1 receptor. Secreted IL-1RA acts in the extracellular environment and helps regulate inflammatory and immune responses.
