About CASP9

Target information is kept separate from product-level validation so you can review the biology and the reagent evidence independently.

Biology

Biological function

CASP9 is an initiator cysteine protease in the intrinsic apoptotic pathway. Following cytochrome-c-dependent apoptosome assembly with APAF1, procaspase-9 is activated and helps initiate the downstream caspase cascade.

Experimental context

Research context

CASP9 is widely studied in mitochondrial apoptosis, apoptosome signalling, programmed cell death, stress responses and cancer models. Reagent selection should consider cleavage or activation state, species, sample type, assay format, application and supporting validation.
