Biological function

AOC3 is a copper-dependent primary amine oxidase that catalyses oxidative deamination of primary amines to aldehydes, producing hydrogen peroxide and ammonia. As vascular adhesion protein 1 (VAP-1), the endothelial cell-surface protein also has adhesion activity that contributes to lymphocyte extravasation and recirculation.
