APOC3 (apolipoprotein C3) encodes apolipoprotein C-III (ApoC-III), a component of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins including VLDL and chylomicrons and also of HDL. APOC3 is a key regulator of triglyceride homeostasis through effects on lipoprotein production, lipolysis and remnant clearance.
