Chemokin-(C-C-Motiv)-Ligand 8, auch bekannt als Monozyten-Chemoattraktionsprotein 2 (MCP-2), ist ein Protein, das beim Menschen durch das CCL8-Gen kodiert wird. CCL8 ist ein kleines Zytokin, das zur CC-Chemokinfamilie gehört. Das CCL8-Protein wird als Vorläufer mit 109 Aminosäuren produziert, das zu reifem CCL8 mit 75 Aminosäuren gespalten wird. Das Gen für CCL8 wird von 3 Exons kodiert und befindet sich innerhalb eines großen Clusters von CC-Chemokinen auf Chromosom 17q11.2 beim Menschen. Monozyten-Chemoattraktionsprotein 2 (MCP-2) ist ein CC-Chemokin, das mehrere zelluläre Rezeptoren nutzt, um menschliche Leukozyten anzuziehen und zu aktivieren.
