Das TATA-bindende Protein (TBP) ist ein allgemeiner Transkriptionsfaktor, der spezifisch an eine DNA-Sequenz, die sogenannte TATA-Box, bindet. Diese DNA-Sequenz findet sich etwa 30 Basenpaare stromaufwärts der Transkriptionsstartstelle in einigen eukaryotischen Genpromotoren.
