Die Ubiquitin-spezifische Peptidase 25 ist ein Protein, das beim Menschen durch das USP25-Gen kodiert wird. Es ist auf 21q21.1 kartiert. Ubiquitin ist ein hochkonserviertes Protein mit 76 Aminosäuren, das an der Regulierung des intrazellulären Proteinabbaus, der Zellzyklusregulation und der Stressantwort beteiligt ist. Ubiquitin wird aus abgebauten Proteinen durch die Demontage der Polyubiquitinketten freigesetzt, was durch Ubiquitin-spezifische Proteasen (USPs) wie USP25 vermittelt wird.
