Mastermind-like protein 1 ist ein Protein, das beim Menschen vom MAML1-Gen kodiert wird. Dieses Protein ist das menschliche Homolog von Mastermind, einem Drosophila-Protein, das eine Rolle im Notch-Signalweg spielt, der an der Bestimmung des Zellschicksals beteiligt ist. Es gibt In-vitro-Beweise, dass das menschliche Homolog einen Komplex mit dem intrazellulären Teil menschlicher Notch-Rezeptoren bildet und die Expression eines Notch-induzierten Gens erhöhen kann. Diese Beweise stützen seine vorgeschlagene Funktion als transkriptioneller Koaktivator im Notch-Signalweg.
