HECTD1 (E3 Ubiquitin-Protein-Ligase), die Ubiquitin von einem E2 Ubiquitin-konjugierenden Enzym in Form eines Thioesters akzeptiert und dann das Ubiquitin auf gezielte Substrate überträgt, könnte für die Entwicklung des Kopfmesenchyms und den Neuralrohrschluss erforderlich sein. Sie ist auch an sporadischer Parkinson-Krankheit beteiligt (PMID:16714300). Dieses Protein ist spezifisch für HECTD1.
