Two main isozymes are known to exist in eukaryotic cells: one is found in the mitochondrial matrix and the other in the cytoplasm. This gene encodes the cytosolic isozyme, which plays a key role in the malate-aspartate shuttle that allows malate to pass through the mitochondrial membrane to be transformed into oxaloacetate for further cellular processes. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. A recent study showed that a C-terminally extended isoform is produced by use of an alternative in-frame translation termination codon via a stop codon readthrough mechanism, and that this isoform is localized in the peroxisomes. Pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes X and 6.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"BT LAB","offers":[{"title":"20ul","offer_id":57661235036500,"sku":"ABM184951","price":69.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"50ul","offer_id":57661235069268,"sku":"ABM184952","price":115.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"100ul","offer_id":57661235102036,"sku":"ABM184953","price":176.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/1040\/1782\/2036\/files\/btlab-0c7a6fe7e4424a7c9bfaf3051c3e8a86d7e25ed498cd2cbd63561106fd028abd.jpg?v=1792159003","url":"https:\/\/www.abmium.com\/products\/abm184951","provider":"ABMIUM","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
