Apolipoprotein A-I promotes export of cellular cholesterol to HDL and transport toward the liver for excretion. ApoA-I also serves as a cofactor for lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT), supporting plasma cholesteryl-ester formation and HDL maturation.
APOA1 is a core target in HDL assembly, cholesterol efflux, reverse cholesterol transport and broader lipid-metabolism research. Experimental interpretation should distinguish gene or protein abundance from HDL particle composition and follow product-specific species, sample and application validation.
