Safe-Red Gel is non-carcinogenic by the Ames-test. The results are negative in both the mouse marrow chromophilous erythrocyte micronucleus and mouse spermary spermatocyte chromosomal aberration tests. Safe-Red Gel is used the same way as EtBr in agarose gel electrophoresis.
