Biological function

ERBB2 (HER2) is a receptor tyrosine kinase in the EGFR/ERBB family. It has no known direct activating ligand and acts as a preferred heterodimerisation partner for other ligand-bound ERBB receptors, amplifying downstream signalling controlling cell proliferation, survival and differentiation.

Research context

ERBB2 is widely studied in receptor tyrosine-kinase signalling, epithelial biology, cell proliferation and cancer models. Reagent selection should consider expression level, phosphorylation or activation state, species, sample type, assay format, application and supporting validation.
